Children's Bible Activities

Use the Power of Drama at Easter

As an evangelist specializing in costumed monologues, Mark Winter knows first-hand the power of drama to captivate children. As we move toward Resurrection Sunday, Mark has provided some great suggestions for incorporating drama into your Bible teaching and introducing your kids to the most dramatic story ever told!

Simeon and Anna Met Jesus

The Ten Lepers

In Luke 17:11-19, ten lepers asked Jesus to heal them. He told them to go show themselves to the priest as the Old Testament directed, and on their way, they were healed. They all were pleased, but just one man returned to give Jesus thanks—and this man was a Samaritan. Click here or on the image to see activities about this challenging story.

Good morning and Happy Friday!
Wow, this week flew by! I can't believe that it is March!!
Aaaaannnnddddd... with February drawing to a close, it's also been Spring-project-central around here! I'm really excited to share what I've been working on; and my first spring project is up on the blog!
I love how pretty these speckled eggs turned out. And while I chose to use them as place cards for an Easter table, you could just as easily make a variety of these in pretty Easter colours to fill a dough bowl on your dining table... the ideas are endless!
Create a super pretty Easter Table setting - How to make your own DIY Speckled Easter Egg Place Card Holders -17
As far as the organizing challenge goes, this week I focused on getting our boys' room in organizational shape. I started where I always do... with some awesome research. I collected and shared all kinds of brilliant ideas for how to keep kid's room organized and added some great storage solution ideas to the mix, as well.
If you are looking for great ways to store things and organize your child's bedroom, then you'll love this post!
Kid s Bedroom Organizing Ideas
It felt so good to get our boys' shared bedroom tackled! It was looking a little messy on the surface and was crazy-overstuffed-inside-every-door-nook-and-cranny-they-could-find! Pretty much bursting at the organizational seams.
So I followed five simple steps; and now it's a completely organized space again. Much easier for them to keep tidier, themselves, right!
This post is awesome Great tips about how to completely organize kid s rooms
Now that I've finished up the boys' room, I'll be moving onto tackling my craft room next. I've decided to switch the order of my last two weeks around so that I have time to get some new storage solutions in place for our basement family room. I'm really excited about getting this challenge finished up.
And then, it's time to deal with the overflow that I've banished to the garage (eek!!!!).

Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll: Nonsense Poem

* photo of me the day of my wedding.

My creative writing instructor gave us the following assignment. " While we like to believe we are in charge of our lives, in truth other people have a profound affect on us. People influence our lives. Some for the better. Others have the opposite affect. Think of someone who affected you in some way. It needn't be a life-changing experience, but rather select one person who has affected you."
Who I am today is because of one man. I will call him Prince Charming.
This is a story similar to Cinderella except that I did not have a wicked stepmother. I am one of eight children. I did not have a sister until I was about 81/2 years old. I spent a lot of my childhood years babysitting, cooking, washing and ironing. But unlike Cinderella, I also had fun playing with my three brothers. But I always wondered what life was like on the other side.
ENTER PRINCE CHARMING. I met him after I finished high school. He was older, good-looking, well-dressed, intelligent, well traveled and had his own plane. He was immediately attracted to me and worked very hard to get that first date.
Our first date was March youngest brother's birthday. You will see why that date is important to the story. We went to see the stage version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Not a very good choice of shows for a first date, is it? Our second was another stage show, West Side Story. I was like a bird out of a cage. This man was exposing me to live theatre.
We were engaged on August 28 of the next year. We married a few months later on October 28. We flew in his plane to California for our honeymoon.
Life was good. I could fill a book with our experiences.
But, on January 28 after 28 years of marriage we divorced. I'm sure by now you have noticed the magic number 28... our first date, engagement, wedding, divorce and years married. Of course we had some control in choosing that number at the beginning of our life together, but none at the end. I was sure our marriage would last for ever. But nonetheless this man has changed my life in many ways. I had never eaten in a restaurant until I met him. I had never had anyone dote on me like he did.
I became well-traveled because of his business journeys. I loved the attention from him and his business acquaintances. He spoiled me. He loved for me to travel with him. Our three girls were also exposed to world travel. He exposed me to so much I would never have experienced if I hadn't met him.
I grew to love this prince and miss him. But, I believe things happen for a reason. I am now experiencing life on my own, even though it was not my choosing. I did not think I could function without him. I was totally dependent on him. Is that not a good reason to be on my own? But everyone desires to be happy.
I have learned so much from this man and thank him for what he gave me; a life full of happiness. What a life this has been! And now he has given me freedom!
Thank you...Thank you...Thank you!
After turning in this assignment, I had several comments from others in the class...really overwhelming me and bringing me to tears.
Below are some of those comments:
1. Sounds like the two of you had a lot of happy years. You are right, you need to be on your own as well. In learning how to be happy on your own, you'll grow even more than you did while he was with you. This is a well written and touching story, and I'm sorry that the number 28 did not work out for you.
2. This story sings of love and no regrets. Sometimes people come into our lives for a season...could be days or years. We should not mourn its passing but rather celebrate its being. That is what you did.
3. I admire your attitude. You write beautifully of keeping the good and letting go of the bad.
4. Touching story and another one many people can relate to... but with you, you let go of your Prince Charming, refused to hang on. As you say you gained your freedom... freedom to do what you want to do the rest of your life.
5. The instructor wrote: I have a lump in my throat. This my friend is something that lots of people should read. Might I encourage you to see if you can find a home for it? It's so much more than a writing assignment for class... it's a life story.

Romans 4:15-17

Matthew Henry says that The strength of faith appeared in its victory over fears. God honors faith; and great faith honors God. It was imputed to him for righteousness. Faith is a grace that of all others gives glory to God. Faith clearly is the instrument by which we receive the righteousness of God, the redemption which is by Christ; and that which is the instrument whereby we take or receive it, cannot be the thing itself, nor can it be the gift there by taken and received. Abrahams faith did not justify him by its own merit or value, but as giving him a part in Christ.

Matthew 28:18-22
